Africa Science Leadership Programme 2023 | DETAILS
The program will employ a highly interactive approach to training, application of skills in a leadership project, peer support, and mentorship. Participants will engage in an initial 5-day, intensive on-site program in Pretoria, South Africa, from December 1st to December 5th, 2023 (departing on the 6th). The process will entail a dynamic cycle of theory, application, and reflection. Participants will be encouraged to collaborate in designing initiatives that propel a fresh paradigm for African science.
Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for the Africa Science Leadership Programme, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
• Possession of a PhD or equivalent qualification
• Hold a faculty or continuing research position at a research institution
• Actively engaged in research and teaching at an African institution of higher education or research
• Demonstrated a sustained track record of exceptional scientific contributions
• Display an interest in translating and communicating research results for societal impact
• Exhibit leadership capabilities in research and beyond
• Show an interest in the role of research in addressing complex societal issues
• Express a willingness to collaborate across disciplines and sectors (e.g., industry, government, etc.)
• Commit to participating in all fellowship activities
• Intend to disseminate acquired knowledge within their broader networks
