Canada PR (Permanent Residency) Program for Essential Workers and International graduates

The Canadian government has introduced a new pathway to Permanent Residency (PR) for over 90,000 essential temporary workers and international graduates. Individuals from various countries are encouraged to apply.

This initiative aims to align with Canada’s 2021 Immigration Levels Plan, targeting the admission of 401,000 new permanent residents. Welcoming skilled newcomers and international graduates under this plan is anticipated to spur job creation and foster long-term growth in Canada.

Eligibility criteria for Canada PR include:

  • Workers must possess at least one year of Canadian work experience in a healthcare profession or another pre-approved essential occupation.
  • International graduates should have completed a Canadian post-secondary program within the past six years, not earlier than January 2017.
  • Detailed explanations of all eligibility requirements are provided in the public policies.

The Canadian Permanent Residency Program offers application streams through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Starting May 6, 2023, applications will be accepted under the following streams:

  • 20,000 applications for temporary healthcare workers
  • 30,000 temporary worker applications in other essential occupations
  • 40,000 applications for international students who have completed studies at a Canadian institution

The application deadline is set until November 5, 2023, or until stream capacities are reached. These streams collectively aim to admit up to 90,000 new permanent residents.
