Established with a commitment to fostering excellence among underrepresented individuals, Greenhouse scholars scholarship goes beyond financial aid, providing mentorship and a supportive community. Greenhouse Scholars Scholarship

The Greenhouse Scholars Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors residing in California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, New York, or North Carolina. Applicants will be evaluated for their leadership skills, academic success, and commitment to their community. Students who are seeking a bachelor’s degree are welcome to apply.


Greenhouse Scholars is an organization whose mission is to transform underserved communities all around the world through education. They empower promising young students with the resources they need to fulfill their dreams in their various lives and communities.

Approximately 34 applicants will be awarded financial aid of $5,000 a year. The scholarship also comes with automatic enrollment in a group of programs that promotes growth and development in students.


Application Process

Round 1: Eligibility Survey & Short Response

This first round of the application process consists of collecting eligibility and demographic information, as well as a short answer response. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

If approved, applicants will be invited to Round 2 on a rolling basis.

Round 2: Academic Information & Essay Responses

The second round requires you to submit your transcript, test scores (with exception), additional demographic information, two letters of recommendation, short answer responses, and an essay response.

Round 3: Video Responses

Semi-finalists will be invited to create and submit a short video response. Submissions are simple and a cellphone video or video from your laptop will be sufficient; no video editing is required.


Round 4: Interviews

Finalists will be invited to submit updated transcripts, test scores (optional), a headshot, college acceptance status, other scholarship awards statuses, and to schedule an interview.

Interviews will be held in-person within each applicant’s home state.

Scholar Notifications 

Scholars from California, Colorado, Illinois, Georgia, New York, and North Carolina are announced by phone and email.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible Students Must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior planning to attend a four-year accredited academic institution
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and a legal resident of California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, New York, or North Carolina.
  • Have a cumulative, unweight GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Demonstrate financial need (annual household income no greater than $80,000)
  • Possess excellent leadership skills, an ability to persevere through difficult circumstances, and a strong interest in and commitment to your community
