The Research & Policy unit of the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) is inviting applications for a paid internship. Candidates should hold an undergraduate degree and either be in the process of completing or have completed an Honours or Master’s Degree in Political Studies, Public Administration, Development Studies, Economics, or a related discipline.



  • Strong research experience (quantitative skills are a strong advantage)
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with data analysis software (e.g., SPSS) and database management software (e.g., Access) is advantageous.
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail
  • Competency in an African language other than English & Afrikaans would be advantageous
  • Capability to work remotely from home (internet data costs can be supported)
