“The scholarship is known as the Margaret McNamara Education Grant (MMEG Bursary), named after its founder. MMEG is a non-profit organization operating in the realm of public charity. Founded in 1981, its mission is to assist women in developing countries by providing educational support. The organization aims to empower women through education, addressing gender inequality prevalent in many nations. Margaret McNamara, the inspiration behind the organization, was the wife of Robert McNamara, the fifth president of the World Bank.”

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be a South African citizen; citizens of other countries may be eligible based on the eligibility list.
• If you are a foreigner, you must possess a study permit for South Africa.
• Must be a female.
• Should be over 25 years of age at the time of application.
• Must be enrolled at one of the following universities: the University of Cape Town, University of Witwatersrand, University of Free State (UFS), University of Pretoria, University of Stellenbosch.
• Must be pursuing a Certificate, Undergraduate, Graduate, or Postgraduate degree.
• Must be enrolled either full-time or part-time, with a minimum of two courses per semester for part-time students.
• Full enrollment is required after receiving the bursary amount.
• Additionally, you must enroll for the next academic year, i.e., January to July 2023.
• Should not have any familial relation to employees of the IMF, World Bank Group, or Inter-American Development Bank.
• For the 2023 session, must have been born before September 15, 1996.
